LESSON 153: RAISED CHAIN STITCH
28 de May de 2022Tutorial for Raised chain stitch:
Here’s the Tutorial for Raised chain stitch:another proposal of fantasy stitch that we propose you in Bordarycantar.com.
The base of the ladder can be completely hidden by the chains or be seen on each side, as you prefer.
What is it used for?
It is used in a striking and decorative row; chain stitch lines can be worked side by side on the same base ladder, or on separate ladders to fill in an area.
First work a ladder of straight stitches as a base:
How do you do that?
Fig. A: Pull the needle out in 1, insert it in 2, pull it out in 3 and insert it in 4. Repeat this until the end of the row. If you prefer, you can make the ladder stitch by pulling the needle out to the left and inserting it to the right, but for a wider ladder, the above method is faster. Finish off the yarn at the base.
Fig. BWith another color, pull out the blunt needle at 5. Pass it under the thread from A to B without piercing the fabric.
Fig. C: Make a loop with the thread, pass the needle again under the upper thread from C to D, with the loop of thread under the needle as in the picture, in the same way as for the lockstitch.
Fig. DRepeat the steps shown in B and C going down the ladder, without piercing the fabric, and securing the last loop with a small vertical stitch.

Materials for sewing with the Raised Chain Stitch tutorial:
- You need a sharp pointed needle. In your trusted haberdashery they can advise you on this.
- Thimble, we know that it is not easy to get used to it, but the earlier you adapt, the better, you will avoid many punctures.
- Special thread for sewing. Or you can also use fine crochet yarn if it is to decorate something
- Frame, there are made of wood, plastic and silicone. Lately I spend the silicone ones because I like them better, but that goes to taste.
- Light, the more the better and to be able to be natural
