What is it used for?

It is used in stuffing or borders. It is worked in a loosely woven fabric so that the threads can be counted. Use a blunt-pointed needle and strong thread, similar in weight to a strand of fabric.

How do you do that?

Each row of circles is worked in two passes. Work the first pass from right to left. Pull all the stitches tightly:

Fig. AWork a backstitch from 2 to 1, from 3 to 2, from 4 to 3, from 5 to 4, from 6 to 5, from 7 to 6, from 8 to 7 and from 9 to 8. Start the next series at 10.

Go around the work and stitch back in the same way to complete each circle.

The stitches are duplicated where the circles touch. The rows of circles can be worked as fillers.

Repeat this point as many times as necessary.
