What is it used for?

It is used in large areas and backgrounds. Stitches may vary in size if working over more than two intersections of the canvas. Steps, six or eight stitches may vary in size.

How do you do that?

Work from left to right:

Fig. A: Draw the needle out at 1, cast it in at 2, two intersections over and to the right. Draw the needle out at 3 and cast it in at 4. Knit two more stitches to the right in the same way. Work two or more stitches directly under the fourth stitch to make a step. Repeat these six stitches.

Leave enough space if you want to change color:

Repeat this point as many times as necessary.

• You need a sharp pointed needle. In your trusted haberdashery they can advise you on this.
