What is it used for?

It is a stitch used as a simple repeating unit, identical to cross stitch, it is suitable for simple details (such as eyes), lines and outlines, and also for pictorial and geometric designs over small and large areas, it forms a very dense and strong fabric. Make sure that all the top stitches of the crosses are in the same direction: usually from the lower left to the upper right, as in this case.

How do you do that?

Work the line in two passes, starting on the right:
