LESSON 77: Double link stitch

28 de July de 2021 By admin 0

Double Link Stitch Tutorial:

As you will see in this tutorial, the double link stitch is normally sewn from top to bottom.

It is used on straight and curved lines. The optical feel is that of a metal chain. As the rows are parallel, they can interlock with each other to form a different filling.

Fig. A: Start with a normal chain stitch. Take out needle 1 and put it back in the same place, forming a loop. Pull out the needle at 2 and pass the thread completely.

Fig. B: Wind the thread around the needle at 3 just outside the chain stitch and pull it out again at 4, inside the loop of the thread and pass the entire needle through.

Here the photo of figure B

Continue alternating joining stitches and chain stitches. Finish the last link by finishing with a small stitching stitch.

Fig. D: Several combined chainstitch lines can be joined by weaving them together with a contrasting thread and a round point needle. When you finish, you put the thread at the end and finish from behind.

From here we invite you to try it and you will be surprised by the effect. I encourage you to try and you will love it.

Inline and circular displays

Follow the tutorial step by step and you will see how while you are sewing you can think of other ways to make other stitches, even combined with all the ones that I am putting here. You can use it both in borders, as in curtains, sheets, towels etc. or as a simple ornament point in one of your paintings. It is best to follow the video step by step here:

Materials

  • You need a blunt needle. In your trusted haberdashery they can advise you on this.
  • Thimble, we know that it is not easy to get used to it, but the earlier you adapt, the better, you will avoid many punctures.
  • Special pearl or mouliné thread. Or you can also use fine crochet yarn
  • Frame, there are made of wood, plastic and silicone. Lately I spend the silicone ones because I like them better, but that goes to taste.
  • Light, the more the better and to be able to be natural
