Tutorial for hemp stitches: Long stitch triangles:

Here’s the Tutorial for long knit triangles in canvas fabric: Another proposal of fantasy stitch in hemp stitch that we propose you at Bordarycantar.com.

What is it used for?

Various patterns can be made with right-point triangles and can be used for large areas or decorative borders. It is easy to pattern triangles. Each basic triangle is made of an even number of stitches, such as six or eight (shown here is a six-stitch triangle).

How do you do that?

Work from the upper right to the lower left:

Fig. A: The triangles are worked with an edge along the straight row of holes, stitching up and down. Always work single stitches by pulling the needle out through the bottom side of the triangle and inserting it at the top. Start at the upper right side: Draw the needle out at 1, slip it in 2 over one strand of the canvas, draw it out at 3, slip it in 4, over two strands of canvas, draw it out at 5, slip it in 6 over three strands of canvas, draw it out at 7, slip it in8 over four strands of canvas, draw it out at 9, slip it in 10 over three strands of canvas, draw it out at 11, and slip it in 12 over two strands of canvas. These six stitches form a triangle. Pull the needle out at 13 to start the next triangle to the left. Work the next row of triangles from left to right, fitting them into the top row.

Points for the Fig. A

Fig. B: If you work the next pair of rows the same, a zigzag pattern will be formed. If the next pair of rows is worked as a mirror image of the first pair, the result is a crisscross pattern.

It looks like this

Materials for embroidering long stitch triangles on canvas fabric:

  • You need a sharp pointed needle. In your trusted haberdashery they can advise you on this.
  • Canvas fabric
  • Thimble, we know that it is not easy to get used to it, but the earlier you adapt, the better, you will avoid many punctures.
  • Special thread for sewing. Or you can also use fine crochet yarn if it is to decorate something
  • Frame, there are made of wood, plastic and silicone. Lately I spend the silicone ones because I like them better, but that goes to taste.
  • Light, the more the better and to be able to be natural
