Tutorial for Star Stitch

Here’s the Tutorial for Star stitch. Another proposal of fantasy stitch in hemp stitch that we propose you at Bordarycantar.com.

What is it used for?

Interesting fantasy stitch, usually working in borders or for backgrounds where you want to simulate stars or flowers. It works quickly. The blocks can be of any size and can be worked in various repetitive patterns or as single motifs.

How do you do that?

It starts at the upper right margin:

Diagrams of Fig. A and B: Here is a sketch of Fig. A and B, for a better understanding.

Points for the Fig. A y B

Fig. A: Pull the needle out at 1, put it in at 2, pull it out at 3 and put it in at 2.

Points for the Fig. B

Fig. B: Cast on six more stitches, pulling the needle out at 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, and always putting it in at 2. These eight stitches form a unit. Pull the needle out again at 8 to start the next unit of stitches to the left.

Diagram of Fig. C: Here is a sketch of Fig. C:

Fig. C: Stitch the next row from left to right, working the stitches in reverse order. Repeat these two rows as needed.

And here I show you how it looks once finished:

Embroidery materials Star Point:

  • You need a sharp pointed needle. In your trusted haberdashery they can advise you on this.
  • Canvas fabric
  • Thimble, we know that it is not easy to get used to it, but the earlier you adapt, the better, you will avoid many punctures.
  • Special thread for sewing. Or you can also use fine crochet yarn if it is to decorate something
  • Frame, there are made of wood, plastic and silicone. Lately I spend the silicone ones because I like them better, but that goes to taste.
  • Light, the more the better and to be able to be natural
